How We Review
Fourteen days, one real account, our own money and a stopwatch. This is the exact protocol behind every score on this website.
Step 1 — Licence verification (day 0)
Before a single penny is deposited, we search the UK Gambling Commission public register for the brand's domain. We record the account number, the licence status and the permitted activities, and we screenshot the entry. If the domain does not appear, testing stops there and the brand is never published.
Step 2 — Registration and identity checks (day 1)
We open three accounts using three different reviewers, three different devices and three different payment methods. We time registration from landing page to funded balance, and we note whether age and affordability checks happen before the first deposit or only at withdrawal. A brand that verifies your identity only when you try to take money out loses points, every time.
Step 3 — Safer gambling controls (day 1)
Every control is tested, not just listed. We set a low deposit limit and confirm it applies immediately. We then request an increase and confirm the mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period is enforced. We trigger a reality check, apply a 24-hour time-out, and confirm the GAMSTOP route is reachable from the account area. Anything that does not behave as advertised is written up.
Step 4 — The lobby and the terms (days 2 to 10)
We sample the catalogue for return-to-player transparency, minimum stake, studio range and load speed on a mid-range Android handset over 4G. We then take five promotional offers and compare what the tile says against the full terms page, line by line: wagering multiplier, maximum conversion, expiry, contribution weighting. Discrepancies are reported in the review.
Step 5 — Support contacts (days 2 to 12)
At least eight contacts spread across different hours and days, mixing easy questions with deliberately awkward ones. We record first-response time, accuracy, and whether the agent attempts to steer the conversation towards a deposit. Response times quoted in our reviews are averages of every contact, including the slow ones.
Step 6 — Withdrawals (days 3 to 14)
Three separate withdrawal requests, different amounts, different methods. We start the clock when the request is submitted and stop it when the funds are visible in the destination account. We also check for reversal windows, withdrawal fees, and whether documentation is requested at this stage that should have been requested at registration.
The scoring model
| Criterion | Weight | What moves the number |
|---|---|---|
| Licensing and safety | 25% | Register match, pre-deposit checks, behaviour of every safer gambling control |
| Payouts and banking | 25% | Measured withdrawal times, fees, reversal windows, method range |
| Clarity of terms | 20% | Whether the tile matches the terms page, readability, no buried conditions |
| Experience and library | 15% | Load speed on mobile, filtering, RTP transparency, minimum stakes |
| Customer support | 15% | Hours, measured first-response time, accuracy, absence of upselling |
Scores are recalculated in full at each ninety-day refresh. A brand can go down as well as up, and we do not remove a review because a score fell.
What could make us wrong
We test from the United Kingdom, on UK accounts, with UK payment methods, in a fourteen-day window. Your bank may be slower than ours. Your identity check may need a document ours did not. A brand may change its withdrawal processor the week after we publish. We refresh every ninety days precisely because of this, but a review is a snapshot, not a guarantee. Always read the operator's own current terms before you deposit.
18+ Our testing budget is real money that we expect to lose. Yours should be treated the same way. Set a limit before you deposit, and see our Responsible Gaming page if gambling has stopped being entertainment.
